Any good books about the history of the sewing machine

I'd love to read something well researched about the actual history of the sewing machine's invention and the fairly dramatic patent wars that apparently surrounded it in the nineteenth century. Most of what I know is fragments picked up from random forum posts and documentary snippets rather than one coherent source. Looking for a genuinely good nonfiction book on the topic rather than a dry academic text, if such a thing exists.
