I'm attempting a Chanel-style jacket for the first time, currently hand basting the wool boucle to the silk underlining before any machine stitching happens, exactly as the classic method describes. It's slow, meditative work and I finally understand why these jackets cost what they do in real life. I've got about six hours of basting logged so far with maybe four more to go before I can even think about the quilting stitches. No regrets taking on something this ambitious.
