Turned my dad's old flannel shirts into a quilted vest

My dad handed me a stack of flannel shirts he'd worn through at the elbows and asked if I could do anything with them before they hit the donation pile. I cut around the worn spots, pieced the good sections into a simple quilted vest with cotton batting between two layers, and added snap closures from my stash. He's already worn it three times since I gave it to him last weekend, which feels like the best compliment a refashion could get.
