Machine timing is off after a house move, repair or DIY

My machine's timing seems to have shifted after a recent house move, probably from being jostled around in the moving truck despite careful packing. The needle now hits the bobbin hook slightly early and causes skipped stitches on nearly every fabric I try. Timing adjustments feel like they're at the edge of what I'm comfortable doing myself versus taking it to a repair shop. Has anyone successfully fixed timing at home, or is this genuinely a job to leave to a professional?
