Found an unworn wedding dress at the thrift store for eight dollars, all silk satin and lace overlay, clearly someone's cancelled wedding. Felt a little strange cutting into it at first but I got a full silk slip out of the skirt panels and a lace blouse out of the bodice and sleeves. The seam finishing on the original dress was genuinely impressive and taught me a few things about working with slippery silk that I hadn't picked up before.
