Difference between ponte and scuba knit for a pencil skirt

I'm making a pencil skirt and torn between a ponte knit and a scuba knit, both of which the shop describes as having great recovery. I understand ponte is generally heavier and scuba has more of that neoprene-like body, but I've never sewn either and want to know how they actually behave under a machine. Does one hold a crease at the hem better, and does either one need a specific needle to avoid runs in the knit structure?
