How often do you actually oil your machine, be honest

The manual for my machine recommends oiling after every eight hours of sewing, which feels like an unrealistic schedule to actually track and follow consistently. I'm curious what people really do in practice, whether it's a strict schedule, an occasional once-a-month habit, or purely reactive when the machine starts sounding dry. Trying to figure out a realistic maintenance routine that keeps the machine healthy without becoming its own tedious chore on top of the sewing itself.
