Disappointing experience with a big box fabric store's cutting counter

Went into a big box fabric store yesterday for what should have been a simple three-yard cut of quilting cotton and ended up waiting forty minutes in a cutting line with only one person working the counter. When I finally got my fabric cut, it was clearly off-grain by a noticeable margin. Not the first bad experience there but probably my last, since I can get similar quality fabric online without the wasted afternoon. Curious if others have had similar issues lately.
