A hem stitched so the stitching is nearly invisible from the right side, worked by hand with a blind hemming stitch or by machine with a blind hem foot.

A hem secured with a catch stitch worked loosely between the hem edge and the garment, allowing some give and a flat finish from the right side.

A hem on a flared or circular-cut garment, eased and often narrowed to accommodate the curved raw edge without puckering.

A hem finished by attaching a separate shaped facing strip to the raw edge instead of turning up fabric, used when the garment lacks allowance for a folded hem.
