What will we be sewing with in the future?

Sustainability is taking center stage in fashion discussions at New York Climate Week 2026, and textiles are a big part of the conversation. The industry is exploring regenerative and lower-impact materials, circular fashion, water conservation, decarbonization, and more sustainable supply chains. For sewists, this could eventually mean more choices when it comes to fabrics — new materials, recycled fibers and textiles designed with a smaller environmental footprint.
